Configure employee self-service

Employee self-service reduces routine HR administration while keeping governed information under control. Each supported profile detail has one clear treatment: the employee updates it directly, HR reviews the change, or HR maintains it for the employee.

The policy page follows the administrator's saved language. Employees see the effective treatment and explanation in their own interface language, while explanations written by your organisation are shown exactly as entered.

Set the organisation baseline

  1. Open People, then Settings → Employee self-service.
  2. Review the recommended setup under Organization baseline.
  3. Choose the treatment available for each detail.
  4. Select Save draft.
  5. Review the draft, then select Publish.

Employees continue to use the last published policy until the draft is published. This lets you prepare a change without altering their experience.

Add a country or department exception

Use an exception only when a population must be handled differently from the organisation baseline.

  1. Under Country and department exceptions, choose Field and Country.
  2. Optionally choose a department to narrow the exception further.
  3. Choose the treatment and write the explanation employees will see.
  4. Select Add exception, then save and publish the draft.

The exception changes only that field for the selected population. Other fields continue to inherit the baseline, so a large international organisation does not need a full policy copy for every country.

If a profile detail is maintained by an external HR master, Markular treats it as read-only even when the self-service policy would otherwise permit a change.

Review requested changes

Open People → Requests to review. Profile changes appear with the employee, field, current value and requested value. Approve applies the requested value; Reject leaves the profile unchanged. Markular asks for confirmation before either decision is applied.
